Traveling in Mongolia
Mongolia may not mean much to you until you've been there. But it will be the country you just want to visit again. With us you can travel the way you want. We specialize in trips that our travelers make and not those we make for our travelers.
We fulfill your wishes where possible, because Mongolia can be experienced in many ways. With the luxurious Landcruiser, a Russian mini-bus, on horseback, by canoe or on foot. Mongolia has large rivers in the north, endless grass steppes in the east, an unforgettably large desert in the south and the Altai high mountains in the west, the highest peak of which reaches 4374 meters into the sky.
The nomads are everywhere with their livestock along with the modern vagaries of the western world. Mongolia is innovating quickly so we can take our travelers through the ages. One moment you imagine yourself in the time of Chinggis Khaan, a little later you are using the internet on your mobile in this country where the feeling of freedom will take hold of you.
Mongolia has everything to wonderfully detach from the material world and everything we think is appropriate. So please feel free to contact us.
In terms of information, we want to keep it as simple as possible. Due to the enormous amount of information available on the internet, it has become apparent that you travelers are already quite aware of what was and is going on in Mongolia . We want it as personal as possible, so only after you have shown interest in our travel agency and way of traveling will we provide all the information you want.
Nature is abundant in Mongolia . The nomads have of course left their mark on the vegetation of the country by allowing their herds to roam freely, but that does not detract from the mountains, the lakes, and the immense Gobi desert that covers a large part of Mongolia . We can all meet wild ibexes, wild sheep, antelopes, wolves, foxes, and many species of birds of prey and vultures. The more rare animals such as the wild ass, the saiga antelope, Gobi bear and the beautiful snow leopard can be spotted by tailoring our trip specifically to them. Flora and fauna, for those who pay attention to it, gives us a good dose every day.
Geologically, Mongolia is a paradise with its vast reserves of rocks and minerals. There is plenty of jasper, agate, amethyst, fluorite and petrified wood to be found in a simple manner. So if you enjoy mineral hunting, take extra days of vacation!!
Archaeologically speaking, Mongolia is also very interesting. People lived on Mongolian soil as far back as 700,000 years ago. Finds such as stone spearheads can be found throughout Mongolia. Cutting objects made of stone or axes are also not uncommon. The Stone Age left behind many beautiful objects for us. The Bronze Age in Mongolia had a flourishing period with a lot of creativity, which has led to a beautiful collection that can now be seen in the bronze museum under the stainless steel statue of Chinggis Khaan just outside Ulaanbaatar.
By having been the rulers themselves and then being dominated for centuries, Mongolia is culturally a mix of various cultures that you encounter everywhere. In the time of Chinggis Khaan, shamanism was at its height. Buddhism came to Mongolia in the second half of the 16th century. Communism came in 1920. Mongolia has been a democracy since 1990 and all beliefs are tolerated and woven into today's society.
A journey made for you
To make a trip more specific, there are a number of options to which the trip can largely be tailored. These include:
An archaeological journey where we specifically look for the past in Mongolia. This can start with the Stone Age and flow through to the Bronze and Iron Ages.
A journey in search of rock drawings (petroglyphs) that are present throughout Mongolia and usually in beautiful places of nature. We have the oldest and largest collection of petroglyphs in the world located in western Mongolia. There are more than 11,000 drawings on a small surface.
A journey to ungigantic inhabitants of the earth long before our existence, the dinosaurs, or for our paleontologists, Mongolia is also one of the countries where the most fossils are found. From whole dinosaur skeletons to footprints, eggs and fragments of various species. This is oriented in the south of Mongolia in the Gobi desert. Many expeditions are still there, where the first expedition was in the 1920s led by Andrew Chapman. He also discovered that dinosaurs laid eggs.
A journey for our geologists and mineral and stone enthusiasts. Huge areas of Mongolia's surface are littered with jasper quartz and agate. Orthoclase, ammazonite, aquamarine and topaz can also be found on the surface. Since we honor the old tradition, we will not dig pits in the form of mining, so only what is visible to the naked eye.
Then we have a lot of fun for the ornithologists, our bird watchers!!. This country is a paradise for birds of prey, vultures and cranes. Here we have, for example, the extremely rare Russian white crane that visits us in April and late August. Eagles, hawks, falcons, kites, etc. The kbvtjes are also not lacking in this beautiful country.
Then the sporty traveler with whom we can go on horseback as far as you want and wherever you want. Walking is also an experience in Mongolia and you can walk where you are the first to ever set foot there. The white peaks of Tavn Bogd, the 5 highest mountains in Mongolia in the far northwest, are also an excellent destination. We can organize multi-day hiking trips even to the highest point in Mongolia, Khuiten Uul, with an altitude of 4374 meters. It is also beautiful to walk along Lake Khuvsgul in the north.
Flora and fauna also very prominent. In summer we have a sea of flowers in the valleys including ranunculus, anamones, gentians and many other beautiful species. In terms of wildlife, spotting an ibex, wild sheep, fox, wolf or even the snow leopard is an adrenaline-fueled activity!
Culturally, we have many festivals in the summer including Naadam in July, yak festival at Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur in August, Eagle festivals in September and October in Baya Olgii province. Camel festival in the south and the ice festival in the first days of March on Lake Khuvsgul. A great event for every season
For those who enjoy endlessly gazing at the horizon and a mix of everything, we of course have the classic tour with land cruisers or minivans, made in Russia or Japan.
You see, there is something for everyone because there is much more. We put together the perfect trip with you with love and enthusiasm!
